In 1953 a group of local anglers founded Ashton Keynes Angling Club to develop and promote the increasing number of gravel pits in the area. Over the last 50 years the Club has grown and now controls some of the finest mixed coarse fishing in the Cotswold Water Park and the South of England. All of the Club's waters offer general and specimen fishing for Carp, Pike, Tench, Bream, Perch, Roach and Rudd.
Anglers holidaying in the area may join as temporary members and have access to all the club's waters. Day tickets are also available for three of the lakes. Most of the lakes are very accessible, with parking close to some of the swims. Neighbridge Lake (Lake 56) and Top Pit (Lake 31) both have purpose built swims with wheel chair access for the less able-bodied angler.

Notice board
26 June 2009 - IMPORTANT changes to overnight parking for members fishing Top Pit & Large Lake
With immediate effect, owing to a change in the procedure introduced by Watermark, the gate at the main entrance to the Cotswold Country Park (formerly Keynes Country Park) no longer has an AKAC combination lock and therefore can NOT be used by AKAC members. This means that those members fishing overnight and wishing to enter/exit the Park outside normal opening hours (see note below, concerning Park opening hours) will no longer be able to use this gate for entry/exit, or leave their cars parked within the main Country Park designated car park areas, outside the Park opening hours.
Members wishing to fish either, Large Lake, or Top Pit and enter/exit outside normal Park opening hours, will have to use the 'Nature Reserve' car park at the southern end of Large Lake, which is accessed via the ' Waterlands' entrance, using the combination on your permit. [NB - there is also limited parking on the ' Waterlands' site. Please consult your permit for precise location of parking area]
Any member, who is fishing Top Pit, or Large Lake, during the day and has left their car in one of the designated car parking areas within the main Country Park area, but intends to fish on after the Park has closed to the public, is now required by Watermark, to REMOVE their car from the designated car parking area within the main Country Park BEFORE the Park closes to the public. Failure to remove the vehicle, will result in the member concerned being asked by Watermark staff to vacate the Park or face any repercussions. If the member wishes to continue fishing during the night, the car must be moved and parked overnight in the 'Nature Reserve' car park.
Access to the 'Nature Reserve' car park is via the 'Waterlands entrance' (see below for details).
Full details of the Cotswold Country Park closing times, which vary, depending upon the time of the year, can be found on the Cotswold Country Park website.
This new arrangement does not affect AKAC members fishing Top Pit or Large Lake during the Country Park opening hours. They will still be entitled to free entry/parking and obtain a free 'exit card' from the Country Park shop, on production of their AKAC membership card.
Waterland entrance
AKAC members may enter/exit the Cotswold Country Park via this entrance, using the lock combination printed on their membership card. On entry, turn right and park in the Nature Reserve Car Park, which is the designated parking area. [NB - there is also limited parking on the ' Waterlands' site. Please consult your permit for precise location of parking area].
If the gate is locked when you enter/exit always ensure that you lock the gate behind you. Failure to do so may result in AKAC losing the right to use this entrance.
3 June 2009 - 2009/10 Season permits now available
The membership cards for the 2009/10 season are now available. There has been no increase in charges for 2009/10 and full details can be found on the permits web page.
New members may commence fishing as soon as they have purchased their membership, provided that the water they intend to fish is open for fishing. Full details of lakes open can be found on the Information on Club waters web page.
All members should familiarise themselves with the Club rules BEFORE commencing fishing.
Please be aware that members or day ticket holders fishing the lakes in the Cotswold Country Park (formerly Keynes Country Park) MUST park in the designated parking areas. Parking on the grass/seeded areas, behind some of the swims, is no longer permitted.
Will members note, that the 'low level' bar entrance on Large lake, between 'Waterlands' and the main park is permanently locked for security reasons and can no longer be used by members.
Enjoy your fishing.
